From Windows XP, run fixmbr Then, go into Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management. Hightlight the partition with Mandrake on and run a format!!! taurus |

Are you sure it gets stuck forever? It's probably trying to get an IP address by DHCP. It should timeout after a few minutes. Once you get in, you can change the configuration so it doesn't wait for DHCP next time you boot.

...or you can start it by going into single user or multi user non-networked mode by typing either "linux 1" or "linux 2" at the lilo/grub boot prompt. Doing this should bypass trying to start your NIC. Once in you should be able to reconfigure your network with either ifconfig or the mandrake tool draknet.
